EVs do not have enough range for real life.
The claim you picked EVs do not have enough range for real life.
Modern volume EVs clear 300–500+ km WLTP. Real life is a commute, not a film shoot across Texas.
EPA (US): most new models are over 320 km (200 miles) rated; the U.S. daily-travel distribution makes that surplus, not scarcity. European WLTP numbers for Model Y, ID. family, Hyundai/Kia, and Chinese imports sit in the same band people already live inside with a diesel that they refuel out of habit, not need.
Range anxiety is a once-a-year holiday problem plus a winter problem (next card). It is not a Tuesday problem for the median driver. If your life is 800 km of Autobahn in a blizzard with a ski box, you already know you are a special case — plan it, or keep a long-range ICE for that week. Do not write a law of nature from the special case.
Key figures
- New-car range
- Typically 320+ km (200+ miles) EPA / 300–500 km WLTP
- Daily need
- Most trips far below that
- The exception
- Long, fast, cold road trips — plan them
