Crew Dragon is unsafe. NASA should have stayed on Soyuz.
The claim you picked Crew Dragon is unsafe. NASA should have stayed on Soyuz.
Dragon has flown NASA crews since 2020. Soyuz is a fine vehicle with its own failures. Nostalgia is not a safety analysis.
Crew Dragon became the first commercial spacecraft to carry NASA astronauts to the ISS, Demo-2 in 2020, then a regular rotation. Issues have occurred — as they do on every crewed stack, including helium leaks, weather slips, and the usual engineering nits. NASA’s safety process is conservative to the point of comedy. They still fly it.
Soyuz is a legendary machine. It has also killed crews (1967, 1971, 1983 pad abort survived, 2018 abort survived). After 2011 the U.S. was a hitchhiker paying Russia. Dragon ended that. “Unsafe compared to Soyuz” needs a body count and a reliability series, not a vibe that old Soviet hardware is magically priestly.
